Hospital Job in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
I have gained experience in the management of patients with complex medical histories and medically compromised patients in A&E and on the ward. I also saw a wide range of oral medicine patients on consultant led clinics. I have gained surgical experience and competence through treatment planning and performing procedures such as biopsies (i.e. incisional, excisions and punch), suturing lacerations and skin flaps, surgical extractions (including impacted wisdom teeth), surgical expose and bonds. The 1 in 4 on-call shifts also taught me resilience in managing stress and learning how to prioritise tasks.

General Practice Job in a very busy practice located in a very high dental needs area.
The practice was on Scheme B of the NHS pilot programme. I saw an average of 15-20 patients a day and carried out a high volume of treatment such as root canal therapy, routine extractions, routine amalgam and composite restorations, dentures and crowns. I gained a lot of experience in general dentistry.
Audit project: Are we using rubber dams in all our root canal therapy patients?
